About Layna

Mystic Pots is the creative studio of ceramic artist Layna Mattson.

Layna earned her B.S. in Design from Buffalo State, where she focused on ceramics and fell deeply in love with clay. A self-proclaimed “clay nerd,” she thrives on sharing her passion with others through teaching and hosting workshops in the studio.

In addition to vending at local markets, Layna is especially drawn to figurative sculpture and the expressive potential of the medium. A core part of her long-term practice is experimenting with locally sourced clay from the Western New York region - honoring both the land and the process in every piece she creates.
